I was pulling plugs for Chinook on the Kitimat River with professional fishing guides Ron Wakita and Mike Herzberg for a half day on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. The river was high but in good shape. We saw lots of Chinook rolling. We went 1 for 3 which means we hooked three Chinook and landed one. Mike was the lucky angler. It was a bright fish weighing between 20-25-pounds. We were fishing with G.Loomis http://www.gloomis.com GL2, HSR 1025c Mag-Heavy Ex Fast Action 15-30 lb 1-6 oz. rod. Abu Garcia http://www.purefishing.com Ambassadeur 7000i LC (LC means Line Counter). 25-pound test Maxima htt://www.rapala.ca fishing line. Luhr Jensen Kwikfish http://www.rapala.ca K13 (Ron named it after Mr. Magoo [Blue Magoo]). 7 ott Gamagatsu http://www.rapala.ca bardbless hook. We really enjoyed fishing with the Scotty Orca Rod Holders http://www.scotty.com and the oversized Gibbs landing net http://www.gibbsfishing.com The right tools for the job. Special thanks to Ron for bringing cooked Dungeness Crab PLUS Smokies which he barbequed in the drift boat while we fished. I thoroughly enjoyed eating them.
