I've watched this show twice on tv and I can't stop asking the question, why are they so quick to underestimate the intelligence of the ancient civilizations? Ex. They were looking for an answer on how the Egyptians were able to light up the pyramids. Copper mirrors were weakened the light so it didn't reach completely, and there wasn't enough oxygen for torches. What about the Baghdad battery? Just because it wasn't found in Egypt yet doesn't mean they couldn't use it there.
once a species/civiliztion has mastered high technologies it becomes impossible for species which have no knowledge of such things(what they are and how they work)to distinguish between these devices and supernatural events. Basically, if you somehow managed to travel back in time, say two century's and you where to pull your MP4 player out of your pocket you would have been consider to be a 'god' - a supernatural entity or in primitive European countries you'd have been burned at the stake, lol
politicalair, I don't think your explanation explains Ancient Sumeria though. Not saying it's not a good one; I've actually used it myself in many instances. But what could that be?
if we are the only life in the universe than the universe is just a bad science project becouse if we are the best that can come into existence then the universe should have never been if you are right and there are no other life forms in exsistence i pity the earth and all of creation

we experiment on everything we find if we could travel to a planet with beings less technologicaly advanced as us we would experiment on them
