it Just passed today i hate that! there are better ways to deal with a older horse or a injured horse than to send it off to slaughter. People can put them to sleep if they are suffering and bury them or dispose of in a proper way. i live in Missouri and i think it puts us to shame

OMG such idiocy.....if you need to dump your horse sell it to someone who wants it. If not use your head and euthanize it ... you backwoods rednecks are total idiots .. If you cannot afford to have your horses YOU DONT DESERVE THEM !!!!! The drugs you put into these horses stay in their meat and they cause health problems.
Missouri you don't belong in the United States ... go away you are idiots

Rep. Jim Viebrock: "This is actually a huge economic driver for our state, an economic development tool in that we're going to put people back to work....."
Gee Jim, you could use that same argument to promote slavery. Is that all it takes to make it worth your while? An 'economic development tool'?
Who voted for this douchebag?

Typical politician..... there's money in it so ethics bedamned! let's kill us some horses so we can get some money. And that breeder! He says we need somewhere to take these horses. What an ass. There he is breeding horses for specific colors or whatever, and then just wants to kill the ones he doesn't want anymore. God, what is wrong with people?

@GuysSeriously the one who throws around the insults is the real "self righteous twat". So go look in the mirror. And we could care less about what barbaric un-necessary meat eating habits of other "cultures" are. Meat eating habits of humans actually causes many cultures in this world to exist in extreme poverty because of the massive resources it takes to grow that meat, be it cow, chicken, pig, horses etc. so go get an real education before spewing your ridiculous hateful rhetoric.
Hillbilly backwoods bullshit!!!!!! END HORSE SLAUGHTER NOW!!!!!!!

Missouri legislators are giving their constituents a black eye. Grassroot polls suggest most Missouri folk are against killing horses. Ferdinand, a Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Kentucky derby in 1986 was sent to a Japanese slaughter house in 2002. This to the outrage of horse lovers everywhere. It also prompted the voluntary Ferdinand's Fund (aka Fee) in New York that would provide for the lifetime care to all retired racehorses. I believe it is time for a Federal Ferdinand's Fund!
