  • I freaked out when I read about this in Popular Science. They just said its purpose was "to cut humans" with various objects. Sounds like a murder-bot.

  • Collision detection is easy. I have programmed computer-wafer handling robots to do it. (I did however nix a project to use our robot for implanting hair plugs. :-)) I have seen gigantic robots that detect objects with tiny wire whiskers, through torque monitoring on the huge arm's motor.

    The trick will be making a robot that will slice a ham, but will not slice a human arm. That would impress me.
