When you compare racing from back in the early 90's to now, anyone can race basically. I mean back when richmond was winning there wasnt power steering, no fans, hardly any padding and not one crew member or driver complained about safety. But now the cockpit is basically cooled, tons of padding, spec engine parts and if the body is tweaked by 1/64th its illegal. And NASCAR's new golden boy still wins about 5-9 races a year.And yes, it has become a slot car race and thats why the ratings drop.

@BeSweeeet If Nascar races were fixed, then how come the most popular driver isn't winning 10 races a year. If they were really fixed Junior would be dominating the sport, and there wouldn't be sagging TV Ratings.
