Kenneth Braswell to provide Keynote Address at September Conference

As men, we hear the headlines and it's tempting to think that as a gender, we're pretty messed up; fatherless homes, violence against others, self-destructive behavior top the long list of things men choose to do. But there's a longer list of men doing good things all across our region. You are on that list. Whether you're an educator, coach, business owner or faith community leader, your leverage among men (and boys) is making a difference.

In order to maximize this impact, we want to invite you to invest your influence in The "New Heroes" initiative; is a collaborative effort on the part of many local non-profits representing law enforcement, social service and faith communities to call the men of the Pacific Northwest to a higher level of responsibility and action by educating and inspiring them about the cultural, economic and relational opportunities that lead to responsible manhood.
The first phase of our plan is to bring together stakeholders from the Portland Metro area; male leaders from the social service sector, youth sports, education, faith and business communities. These are leaders that influence boys and other men. The purpose of this breakfast is to share with you a vision about how the combined efforts of men in the Northwest can help make good communities great and to engage your help in making it happen.
The New Heroes Initiative is in partnership with the 2011: The Year of Responsible Men; a national, White House endorsed movement aimed at bringing out the best in American men.
