This is R day, the ones in the India Whites and the hats are the upper classmen, and cadet cadre. Until A Day, new cadets don't wear the white cap with their uniform. If you notice they are all holding their right glove in their left hand in preparation of the oath.

higher rank usually means they have been in longer, been through a lot of things,and have fought for the rank they have been given. Anyone who goes up in rank had to fight to get there.
