As requested how to remove the firing pin. This isn't something that you would do normally for a quick fieldstrip and clean but it isn't hard to do if people are interested in servicing this area themselves. If you're not comfortable with it, definitely leave it to the gunsmiths during a more comprehensive cleaning and tune up.

Here's the field-strip no tool video I mentioned:

  • Great video. Do you have one on how to remove the extractor?

  • @nowayhowisthat Thanks! No, not yet. I'd like to do some more comprehensive tear down videos of it and I need to do a general update of my experience with it. I need to make some time to have some time and I just haven't done that recently. =)

  • the part holding in the firing pin is called firing "pin stop", while you are there cleaning that as you suggested with a q-tip, it is a very good idea to remove the extractor and clean it as well each time, it gets loaded with carbon and will cause failure to eject

kudos to your video though, the gun world needs more folks getting involved

  • Do a video on a ruger 345 pin removal... It help me put alot

  • Your video helped me A LOT. Especially the cleaning rod against your body trick. Thanks!

  • OH.......THAT'S HOW YOU IT!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks, I figured it out but any videos you do are always the ones that I look for first. you are very informative and accurate in your descriptions.

  • @jwgkeohane dude, just because your smart enough not to use the extra talk (which im not saying you are) some people probably find this video very helpful. so why make a comment like that? and remember your the one that probably watched the video because you didn't know how to.. just saying

  • Dude, seriously. The name of the video is "remove firing pin" and it takes you over 4 minutes of flapping your gums before you remove the firing pin. Seriously?

  • Do you know where I can buy the firing pin block?
