17Seconds

This time I took the Stopmoshorts "Visual Haiku" challenge literally, using all 6 keywords in a 17 syllable piece of doggerel in Haiku form.
Not big on character or story, and meaning took a back seat to cramming all the words in - Joy, Sorrow, Lust, Time, Door, Bones. But It more or less describes the process of trying to come up with something in time for this challenge. Since film is a time-based medium, I made the film 17 seconds long as well. This was shot in about 2 1/2 hours on a small platform on my desk top with another hour to add sound and titles, and upload it in time for the deadline. Masks are based on traditional Japanese designs, except for the balsawood blank/ clock face. To save time, they were modeled in plasticine (because I had it), then given a thin coat of resin and most of the plasticine scooped out from the back. The back wall is a cork floor tile, the bamboo is top branches snipped from a real bamboo plant, and I had some pebbles and a couple of small pots from Kyoto.
