@dominothug dude i remember my mom taking me to the zayre on harlem ave and the venture in forest park illinois thats where i got most of my gi joes and transformers which i still have to this day my uss flagg was bought at zayre i still have that
wow yeah that was back in my days i remember my first cabbage patch doll wow! i got it in 1982 all the little girls would carry them all over the stores and in public.
We had several Zayre's stores in MA. I remember them fondly. Then they became Ames and Ames didn't change the signs for a while. I still remember where most of the departments were located!
not long after that commercial Zayre went out of business hahahahaha

@taledarkside Service Merchandise isn't completely gone. The last of the stores closed down in 2002 but
the name and logo were bought at an auction by Raymond Zimmerman who re launched the company
as an On-line Only Web Store in 2004.

I worked at a Zayre store in Illinois in the '70's, and I WAS NOT the person tearing the heads off the Barbie dolls!
