  • how much did it cost to have the engine built? I really want a 2.8 kb for mine sounds sweet btw

  • @Sk8FalIen I had the motor built by a friend that builds race engines. Got all the parts at cost. He didn't charge me any labor, so for me it was about 3K. I would say the same engine with machine work would be around 7K with porting the heads. Now keep in mind, nothing on my engine is stock, even the oil pan is the Canton Road Race pan. I kind of went overboard, you could probably save some cash by reusing some parts over, but since I got it at cost, I through the catalog at it.

  • Dunno yet, It is getting tuned April 30th.

  • Yes, Cobra Crank, Eagle Rods, JE pistons, VT Stage 3 cams, ported and polished heads, big blower, long tube headers, you name it, it is on there.

  • @wgyoungblood On KB's site they advertise them for the '96-'04 2Vs as "2.1 ,2.6" then into more detail on the page it says fits under stock hood. So the way they have it worded is pretty confusing.

Awesome car by the way. I can't figure out what the hell to do with mine. At this point I almost want to throw some Darton big bore sleeves in a Teksid, slap on some TFS heads, MHS cams, and just make a fun N/A car. Could always pick up a Cobra later on down the road.

  • @kcole939 Yes, I have owned all 3 (2.1, 2.6, and 2.8) and can tell you with certainity the 2.6 and 2.8 will not work with a stock hood on the GT. The 2.6 will fit under the hood of the Cobra. Thats where I think you got confused. By the way, I am the guy that posted this video, just different account.

  • @wgyoungblood Hm. On the main part of their site, their advertise 2.1s and 2.6s together for the '96-'04 cars (Under the section for '03-'04 Cobras) Looked at the details, says "Fits under stock hood"

Then found this on a page for specifically the 2.6. "Note: Requires Cobra R type hood for supercharger clearance."

Sucks. I like my fake hood scoop on my '01 GT. Cobra R is an ok looking hood though.

  • The 2.6 nor the 2.8 clear a stock hood. It isn't even close. You need a Cowl hood of 2.5 inchs or more, or the Cobra R hood.

  • Would the 2.8 clear a stock GT hood? Looks like everything but the very top of the pulley and the forward part of the blower is under the fender line, can't really tell though because of the angle.

Hoping it would since the 2.1 and 2.6 clear just fine.

  • how much power did it put down?
