The bodhran is the traditional Celtic frame drum. The cross braces and laminated rosewood strengthen the shell of this goatskin-covered drum. With a rich deep sound, these drums are great fun even if you have not mastered the traditional playing.

  • this bodhrán is tuned correctly, whoever said its not is wrong, sorry.

    Good Player.

  • playing isn't that bad on your wrist.. no more than being bored, 13 yr old and full of hormones is.

All you do is stretch your arms, fingers, exercise your wrist by making playing motions and I even use a phone book with my tipper to mock play and just work my wrist more. it's all about technique really. if your style is wrong, not only will the drum sound like total crap, but you can hurt yourself

  • @Cryptoenigma because this was one of the best bodhran players of his time. no soundengineers then. can you do any better? I can. Can you make your own Bodhran? I can. Welcome to Irish Trad.

  • I have definitely heard better bodhrans, but I wouldn't call the playing bad. It seemed to me to be a pretty good demonstration of what an moderatly skilled noobie could do with a little practice. Not bad, not innovative, but entertaining and informative. As far as the bodhran goes, they are not selling a professional-level bodhran, so it's not going to sound like a professional bodhran. The company is, after all, called "Mid-East," not "Ireland".

  • Bad bodhran being played badly.

Why has this video got so many hits???!!!

  • Bad bodhran being played badly.

  • caraca! o Jaiminho tocando o bodhran! Deve ser pra evitar a fadiga!

  • JM&J that is some fine playing.

  • @wolfbrother0 If the tension of the skin is not spread equally, you'll get distorted overtones when you strike the drum. These are annoying to hear.

  • Jesus that beater is like a baseball bat hahaha

  • @wolfbrother0 Measure the pitch at each point of tension (tension hooks, tacks etc) and adjust so they're all even and provide the drum with it's greatest tone.

  • Played in a most traditional way.
