  • how does the equation for a carbonate go?

    metal carbonate+acid---> salt+hydrogen+water?

  • Nah its Sr Carbonate + Acid = Sr Salt + CO2 + H2O (Sr being Strontium)

  • nice bu is that a dangerous procedure?

  • Its only dangerous if you don't know what you doing just like every thing else in life.

  • Can it just be left to evaporate in the open? I don't feel comfortable heating it, plus I don't have a cooker I can use outside.

    if you start with say 25% Nitric acid does water still need to be added to dissolve the SrNO3?

  • It can be though if there are contaminates in the SrCO3 it wont dry naturally. Its just faster and easier to dry it with a hot plate.

    You wont need to add more water with the 25%. You shouldn't have to any way.

  • @ber0006 I AGREE 100%

  • oh yeah forgot about a carbonate producing carbon dioxide sry

  • that's not a bad byproduct at all.
