  • Bass drums sound too muddy.

Articulate, with stick control.... good job, just clean it up now.

  • @carribe

Euh, this was played in 2002. No need to clean up anymore ;)

  • Comparing Blackfire and its style to a Drum Corps is moot. Each are seperate to each other and cannot effectively be compared IMHO. Personally I prefer the drum corp battery to any other, which I have listened to both, course I am also partial to Drum corp having marched. Both styles are good. So there really isn't a need to bash either side. Enjoy the music, because music in any form is a gift.

Wasn't that the same year that they placed out of the top 12 for the 1st time since 1972?

  • @MrZepher67 - Actually, they got real clean again in 2005/2006 under Collin McNutt and company, but then spent a couple years re-building when that staff left. They are once again moving back up the ladder with Thom Hannum and Jeff Queen teaching the line. The key is consistancy. If they can hold on to the current staff for at least the next several years, they will be in the top 6 again.

  • @GMSnare

They're not even that clean nowadays....

They USED to be really good way back in the day. After 2003 it went downhill.

    Not sure what happened

Not all "show" lines are like that... Number o1 we're comparing a "college" who doesn't necessarily pick their talent to a "independent" organization like a Drum Corp who does have some what of an option. number 2 Corps practice everyday during the summer unlike colleges who don't have that luxury. Blackfire has produced some quality talent including 2 blue devils and solo PASIC soloists. IIt'd be one thing so Compare a Show line to a College Corp line. But DCI? realy?

  • If blackfore was clean and did what the do, no one would hate on them. Corps style and Show style are very different, however playing clean beats is all the same. Just imagine how great it would be if show bands stopped half assing it and played clean? The hornlines do, so why do the drumline constantly play dirty? Being "entertaining" has absolutly nothing to do with taking enough pride in what you do to play clean. If they don't care. They should. They're making themsleves look foolish.

  • @pizamiata yeah...and it was the February camp to boot...

  • 1:01 = sheer genius and percussive euphoria!

  • @yayxforxsteveo Exactly.....BD actually has a pretty retarded line....don't get me wrong, they're very clean, they're good and all, but that's only because they play easy beats.
