iPad can't measure up to a PADD. Personal Access Display Device or Personal Access Data Device. PADD's in Star Trek have way more function then the iPad could ever hope to have and is not a closed off system like the iPad. Basically having a PADD is like having the freedom of a Fully Functional OS on a Desktop computer in your hand.

Why does Apple and Microsoft focus on making the tablet computers and communication devices from Star Trek? When is someone going to invent a medical scanner that fits in your hands, and a hypo-spray to cure this damn cold I have had for 2 WEEKS?!?!

@TheGreatAfricanGuru - I wish they would. They could do a Star Trek set in the 26th century set onboard the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-J. The ship has already been designed as well.
