@billyudreamer - The original is not b y Reg (who does a fine version) by the composer, the late great John Stewart, who released this as a single in 1969.

The version of this song so beautifully sung by the late, great Australian country singer, Reg Lindsay is by far the best.

I heard this song once durring the spring of 1973. A few months later I was on a two year mission for my church and have not heard it since. I could not remember the title or the artist. Finally today I decided I was going to find it. It has been remade by Nanci Grifith more recently. John Stewart the writer did it on his album Canons in the Rain. Thanks for posting this song. I see the plan of salvation in its words.

I remember this song well. It was on the radio not long after the Moon landing. The version I remember ended with the tape of Armstrong saying his famous quote "One small step for man.One giant leap for mankind"
