Douglas SBD Dauntless "Lady in Blue" visiting the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She flew along with the museum's P-51D Mustang and TBM Avenger and after the Stearman PT-17 and Fokker DR1 replica. The Dauntless dive bomber is part of the Dixie Wing of the Commemorative Air Force in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Dauntlas sunk more enemy shipping in WWII than any other weapon system. A shame so few are left to look at, and see fly.

I saw her at World War II weekend in PA a few years ago. She was flying during the Corsair v. Val duel. The Val got away, so the SBD got on his tail and "nailed" him! I almost got to take a ride in her, but the clouds closed in and they grounded her :(
