I am a 12-year veteran of the US Navy (6 at sea) from a military family (Dad is retired LCDR and graduate of Naval Academy, and my cousin's name is on The Wall). DADT was a very disruptive policy, just as disruptive as its predecessor under which I served (no, I'm NOT gay). Thank you, Senator Murphy, for helping advance military morale and dicipline with the repeal of this law!
thanks, Patty, for your long-standing work on this issue. Congratulations on helping to move all of us forward toward the ideals of true democracy, "with equality and justice for all."
Bolens1966, if you're gonna try to sound intelligent, at least use spell check. I assume you were probably trying to type "Heil" but it sort of fell short. Are you a servicemember? Have you talked to servicemembers about how they feel? I'm a retired Soldier, and work on a military base, interacting with Soldiers every day. The fact is, nobody cares! The majority think it was a stupid policy to begin with; they know that they serve with lesbian and gay soldiers every day.
Ms. Murray, the scam of repealing DADT flies in the face of the reality of the military's needs, and brings with it distractions that our military does not need. You are rubber stamping far left social experimentation on the greatest war force on the planet (at a time of two wars), ignoring the real costs this blunder will bring to our forces. This was not debated, it was rammed through unethically. Hile Obama, Hile Pelosi, Hile Reed. The faster they (and you) leave DC, the better.
DADT has not failed. It did what it was designed to do: marginalise and abuse a rather loathed minority group. I think it was very successful at doing that. Like the Apartheid racial laws - DADT was remarkably successful at promoting evil.
You rock Patty Murray :D :D :D

Thank you Senator Murray for standing strong by supporting our constitutional rights and freedom in your vote to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
