There is a cloud in many a blue sky. AVCHD squeezes full HD into less space on our camera cards but might require a different way of importing the video than the one to which we've become accustomed. The easiest way to handle the files? Import them into Windows Live Movie Maker in Windows 7 or iMovie on a Mac. Import the still images the same way you always have, put the card back in the camera and then delete the videos just copied onto the computer. Enjoy beautiful HD - even if it was stored in AVCHD.

  • Thanks so much, I can now import my 180p and 720p movies from my Sony cybershot :)

  • @mrmistertibbles Happy you found it helpful.

  • The Sony NEX-5N

  • @thesrpspaintshop I heard firmware, but I just checked the support page and it hasn't been issued yet. Hopefully, it will all be good.

  • Just what I needed to know. I have a new Sony camera and couldn't get the test video I made of the card, and I couldn't figure out how do so so this has answered my question.

  • @thesrpspaintshop The NEX-5N has been getting great reviews. I'm trying to decide between it and the 7. Have you noticed the video clicking issue on yours or did the firmware update fix it?

  • @Tom4Surfing Thanks for posting the video :)

  • I'm not 100% sure about the clicking noise – if it's there, its pretty quiet, but i did notice a noise which I thought shouldn't be there, like a scuff noise!

Is there an update for the NEX-5N? I knew Sony were working on some fix for the click but various rumours say it's either a firmware update, or a repair by Sony. What have you heard?

  • @thesrpspaintshop Glad you found it helpful. Which camera did you get?
