@shawncfarm is there much difference in taking the door latch off of a 2 door, gotta do 1 this weekend and it's also a 97 cavalier. i think the spring is starting to go cause sometimes i have to push the latch piece down so that it'll catch and stay closed, so far only happens once in a while i suppose i could just try spraying the heck out of it with wd-40 or fluid film what would you recommend just replace it not before it's to bad since winter is near or just spray it and hope for the best?

@boarderfreak21 The front is not much different. You could try just spraying it to start and see what happens. You might save yourself alot of work.
