Kind of gutted and happy for Will. See, few years back we supported him at Highbury Garage with Ten Grand. The room stood still when Will came on. That voice - just pinned people to the wall. Then on the Monday he came to Newcastle with Ten Grand, and stayed over at another friends and we drank lots and he (Will) fell down some stairs in a night club. Followed him for years and hate the idea of losing him to the masses but he deserves it. Come back Will, we need you.
an interesting story ... thanks. I know what you mean about losing someone to the masses, but we can't keep hold of people, and maybe the masses are not ready for him yet ;)
this "later" performance really made me stand and take notice too, a bit like that first Seasick Steve appearance but this was better .. this is a voice you cannot ignore, so imagine the live impact was a hundred times stronger.
A nicer man you will never meet. Super sweet, awesome voice, poet beyond compare....ahhhh! William. Perfection. I've seen him seven times, at least, and sing his praises to everyone who will listen. I just wish I could see him in Dublin, because, well, I just want to be in Dublin! Also, incredibly cool that he made it on Jools Holland's show.
By pure chance, a week or so after introducing a friend in the states to his music (irony!), said friend happened to walk into a bar for a break from driving and William was singing! It was such a coincidence that my friend had to go up to William and explain the serendipity ... he also told me what a wonderful guy William is.
