I somehow managed to avoid disaster the first 4 times I've gone flying. (in my whole life)

I was just starting to feel comfortable with the plane, and then I fly through a tree. :)

Strangely enough, there was almost no damage. The plane was back in flying order after about 10 minutes of repairs. The only thing that broke was the propeller, and I had ordered 5 spare ones when I bought the plane. (They cost next to nothing, shipping is more expensive than the actual propellers)

The worst part about this accident was that the field I was flying above was flooded with 2 feet of freezing water because of all the snow melting. Needless to say, recuperating the plane was not fun.

  • Be careful of trees and poles - they are really RC airplane eating monsters in disguise ... Your canopy looks like it has a clear "canopy"- did you put a pilot figure or provision for a camera? I swapped my SkySurfer's prop for a bigger one which gave it a little more power ... Nice (funny) video by the way ...

  • @tsisapik Haha thanks for the comment. There's a pilot figure in there right now, it came that way. My FPV (first person view) setup is almost complete. I've got the camera, the transmitter and receiver, the Pod that replaces the existing canopy with the figure inside (includes servo's which will turn the camera left/right, up/down as I move my head) ... I'm just missing the video goggles....

  • @DigitalMind66 Aha - so it was a pilot figure ... Yes I have seen videos of the SkySurfer being used for FPV - very nice considering it has a very large "fuselage" area. Put my SkySurfer together from kit and made the elevator/rudder removable for storage. Looking forward to your FPV flight videos!
