This is the Gemini roller coaster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. It's considered a Hybrid roller coaster which means it has a wooden support structure with STEEL tracks. However I consider it a two seperate steel roller coasters because it is a racing coaster and that there are two seperate tracks. This coaster was built by Arrow Dynamics which is another reason I consider it a steel coaster is that the affore mentioned company only built steel coasters. Arrow Dynamics has never built a wooden coaster ever. This coaster opened in 1978 and was the highest (125ft 4in) and fastest (60mph) coaster in the world at that time. The rest of the stats are as follow; drop 118ft, length 3,935ft, and a ride time of two minutes and twenty seconds. Both sides (red and blue) have the same height, speed, drop, length, and ride time.
Gemini gets it's name from Roman mythology. They are two brothers Castor and Pollux that share the same mother, but have different fathers. Pollux was the son of Zeus and Castor was the son of the Spartan King Tyndareus. Pollux was immortal and Castor was not, so Pollux asked Zeus if he could share his imortality with his brother when Castor was killed. Zeus granted this request, thus saving his brother Castor from death and from then on, they were known as the Gemini Twins.
Great ride
