Some of my eBay purchases that came in the mail today. They tend to come all at once when you order a bunch of things.

x3 mint-in-box 1930's/1940's Alkco Exit + Fire escape signs. Paid $44.99 (How they lasted this long without being used is beyond me.)

1996 NRT aluminum exit sign. Paid $8.99

x4 Apple ][e demo disks. Paid $8.00

Total price paid: $61.98

Ah OK. Nice to see a professional here! ;-)

The video is coming along slowly. Got about 15 minutes left on the upload buddy.

Thanks for all the help BTW!

  • @SeberHusky Somewhat. Sure-Lites' direct-view models didn't illuminate "EXIT" solidly like you'd see on any modern LED sign. Instead, it was lit by a lightpanel that had LED's arranged in a dot/asterisk pattern. It still had a diffuser and a lightpanel like yours, but the illumination was different. Yours is definitely a Sure-Lites. Sure-Lites signs are about 2" longer than a Lithonia. The old Lithonia test button was a rocker switch often found on the mounting canopy, not the sign itself.

  • @compdude512

I googled "direct view led", and it came up with pictures of like bank "ATM OPEN" type signs, where you can see the LED bulbs sticking out through the sign, and there is no plastic covering them. Is that what you mean, or is there diffrent kinds?

Oh, and I just randomly came across this same sign on eBay (or looks similar). It is described as Lithuania Lighting model #285250

  • @SeberHusky It certainly sounds like you have one of the rarer models, but I'll wait until you post your video to see. The only way I know these models exist is that a couple of the Meijer stores built in '94 down here have the same kind you have, only in green (Greenwood [Store 132] and Avon [Store 133]). Oddly enough, the very next store built (134 in Southport) has the same model Lithonia Signature signs that are seen in one of my videos. Pretty sure they're incandescent, though.

Yea, it sucks. I might be able to find some replacement panels, diffrent text, OFC, but if they fit, it works for me. I might be able to superglue the pieces back together.

The other...two very skinny wires going to the front lights, in which are LED's, and they are all arranged to form "EXIT" on one big circuit board. I'll make a video. If it is indeed one, I regret not securing my bid on the other one. (The seller had two of them for sale, someone else bought the 2nd one.)

  • Those older signs are awesome! Too bad one of the panels got busted in shipping. Those aluminum panels are probably from an Emergi-Lite or Lightalarms sign since they're built to slide in.

The newer sign is definitely one of the famous Sure-Lites CAX series signs. Have you hooked it up to see if it's the direct-view LED model? If it is...you got very, very lucky. Sure-Lites made direct-views in the very early '90s, and they're extremely difficult to find!

  • @WolfGuy100

    True!

  • @SeberHusky

Cool. :D Nothing is wrong with having some kind of interests. :3
