The Emirate of Fujairah is historically very old and it is evidenced that people had lived here before Christ . Anciently Fuajairah was known as the land of the sea giants . As the result of the destruction of Maarab Dam some of Fineeqian tribes emigrated to this part and from this tribe descended the tribes of Sharqeyeen.

The Sharqeyeen were known to be tough and courageous and their roots are related to Faham Bin Malik . They left Yaman after the destruction of Maarab Dam and they were related to the Massakrah who decended from the Ouzed .

The name Fujairah was quoted from the name of one of the ancient water streams.

The Geographical Location :

Fujairah is located in the Western part of the Arabian Peninsula facing the Coast of Oman. The length of Fujairah coast on the Gulf of Oman is about 70 k.m. , from the village of Awsillah to Diba. It is bordered by Sultunate of Oman from the Western side , the Emirates of Ras Alkhaimah and Sharjah from the Eastern side and Sharjah from the southern side.

Surface and Contours:

The area is a combination of desert, mountains and coasts . Generally you find high mountain areas decreasing to less height areas to form plain levels surrounded by desert and scattered Oasis and sea coasts

  • i wana live here too....wish

  • Loved Fujairah... its so intimate to live there...

  • Note to tourists...buses are to Fujairah city only...from there a cab will take you to the Meridien Al Aqaa resort. Loved the town of Masafi on the way to Fujairah...beautiful oases nestled in between beautiful mountains.

  • Just got back from Fujairah...the main attraction for tourists is the beautiful beach at Le Meridien which is actually on Al Aqaa Beach and quite a ways from Fujairah city itself. There are direct buses from Dubai's Deira Bus and Taxi Stand now (without having to transfer at Sharjah Rolla like before). Cost? Only 25 dirhams each way. VERY warm water, but watch out for jellyfish...Beautiful mountains...definitely a place I would recommend to anyone visiting the UAE.

  • Really a great city I lived here for three years. I miss you Fujairah ....Zaheer
