Whaaaaaaa? Aren't you supposed to cover the entire cake with 1 piece of rolled-out fondant so you don't have seams along the edges?

wtf......im not trying to be rude, and there's no wrong way to do it, but an easier way would be to roll out one large piece and put it over the whole cake. Not making patches..

Those of you who are watching this to learn how to do it...please don't do it this way. If you do you'll end up with buttercream squishing out between the edges of the pieces of fondant. The best way to cover any shape ...round, square, heart, etc... is by rolling out one thin sheet of fondant, rolling it onto your rolling pin and then rolling it out onto your cake, smoothing as you go. Squares are harder to do than rounds but you just need to practice.
