You got this answer because you had your calculator in radian mode. When doing trigonometry, it is always important to know which mode your calculator is in (radians or degrees). For this problem, you should use degrees.

in order to remember how to find sin/cos/tan i usually use SOHCAHTOA (: and then for csc, sec, and cot their just flipped. this was great review for my final tomorrow, so thank you

@prence1725 Yes, I have a B.S. in math education and a M.A. in mathematics.
For your example problem, would you also be able to use the Pythagorean theorem?

@otopilas700 To use the Pythagorean Theorem you have to know the lengths of two sides of a right triangle in order to find the length of the third side. In this problem, we initially only know the length of one side. After finding that side using trig, we could then find the third side by the Pythagorean Theorem.

has anyone noticed that the length he got for the hypotenuse was less than the length of the adjacent? isnt the hypotenuse suppose to have the longest side?
