I'm a total weather geek - is the July 2, 1995 date in the first couple of frames the loop with the T-storms forming over south Florida or one of the Hurricane loops? I couldn't find any tropical storm/hurricane data from July 2nd.

Good question! From memory and taking another look at the overlays, I'd say its from the thunderstorms boiling up out of florida.
