Clip of a few thousand network packets visualized in sequence. The horizontal axis is "which byte position in the packet? from 0 to 1500..header to payload". The vertical axis is "what value was seen in that position in the packet? from 0 to 255". The color reflects, to some extent, how that value compares to what values are typically seen in that position. The software displays a moving window of packets, so there are 20 on screen at any given time in this demo. This will be eventually used to do protocol decoding and in network security to look for anomalous packets or activity patterns....and as art.

  • Now add sound to this spectrum and you can get music. For net security, you'd get a different tone and rhythm every time an anomalous behavior occurs. Nice one.
