We're growing ALOE VERA in our backyard. Which most of the year it loves our climate...but during the winter months...we tuck it under the porch...to protect it from the snow and freeze. It still gets the southern sun..and we eventually will hang a clear plastic sheet in front of the opening to create a mini greenhouse.

GROW YOUR OWN ALOE! We use it externally for cuts, burns, bites and slivers...and internally in our elixirs. POWERFUL PLANT! There are many varieties...so enjoy them all...but we're mostly growing ALOE BARBADENSIS and ALOE CHINENSIS

A few growing tips: Make a fast draining soil mix..like 50 percent sand or perlite and 50 percent garden soil. Also..don't over water..it's like's to almost dry out. I've noticed they also like to be shaded most of the day. For fertilizer....(learned this one from David Wolfe's Superfood's book)...use dead sea salt....mix some in water every couple months and water the plants..or dig a little hole next to the plant and pour a small amount of dead sea salt in the hole and cover. You can also use ocean grown, ocean water dilution. HAPPY GROWING!! http://www.rawutah.com/
