This is Ben Folds Five playing a cover of Steely Dan's song for the soundtrack of the movie "Me, Myself and Irene" on Letterman. Stumbled upon this video on www.wokeupwaytoolate.com. This is the band's last TV appearance and performance as Ben Folds Five. They broke up right after the show. Sad...

  • uhh he's in key the whole time. i'm a musician and ben folds is a great artist and this performance was awesome.

  • Not Ben's greatest performance ever I'm sure he'd agree, but even on a bad day he outshines even the brightest stars.

  • ben's great but this is a pretty awful performance

  • @greatestxgift Get a life instead of commenting on everyone else's.

  • @SidAndBob Clearly you're the one who needs to grow up if you're telling someone to grow up and calling them a fool for simply expressing their opinion.

  • I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

  • this is a fair version you're always on a hiding to nothing covering a dan song..he was on a midday variety show here in oz some years back at the end of the song he picked up the piano stool and slammed it into the keyboard...thats a $150,000 steinway we're talking about ....ouch...dont think he was invited back...anyway the guy must be strange he moved to Oz and decided to live in Adelaide...wtf>>

  • The reason why the cover sounds "depressing" is because the movie "Me, Myself, and Irene" was released in 2000. In 2000, Ben Folds Five broke because they were constantly tired from all of the touring and the lackluster success of their last (but greatest in my opinion) album. If you don't believe me, search " Myspace Presents: Back to Back: Ben Folds Five." So, yes, it sounds depressing, and maybe flat, to some people, but before you can judge, at least look up some history about the band.

  • Not too bad. There are like a billion other Dan songs that I would cover if I was on Letterman but then again I am not Ben Folds am I.

  • Ben digs the Dan!
