He never actually died, lol, the first time he slit his wrists it was left ambiguous, the second time he slit his wrists he was saved by Spidey.

He tried to kill himself at least twice, but each time he was saved before dying from blood loss. Then this guy named Mr. Negative cured him of his cancer, and what was left of the Venom symbiote became an "anti-symbiote" type symbiote or whatever, and he became Anti-Venom.
