Amidst a boom in recent infrastructure announcements, Surrey City Centre is set to receive another healthy dose of development through Terry Hui and his company Concord Pacific.
In a landmark move, Park Place marks the first development for Concord Pacific in the Surrey City Centre as well as carries forward an ambitious vision from Mayor Dianne Watts to create a vibrant community in the heart of Surrey.
The project originally stalled in 2008 amidst the global economic crisis and the collapse of the project's major financial bakers Lehman Brothers. Terry Hui and Concord Pacific's commitment to complete the project will bring high-density affordable living to a community poised for urban revitalization on a grand scale of community and infrastructure.
"One of the most exciting things as mayor that I have the ability to do along with my colleagues, the investment community and the residents of this city is to develop the city and the next metropolitan core... many cities don't have [an] opportunity very often to build a city from the ground-up, so it's a very exciting time for us and certainly is to be part of this celebration here today of the topping off of this building" said Surrey City mayor Diane Watts.
Concord Pacific's president and CEO Terry Hui noted that the city's commitment to urban infrastructure and community development in the area was a key aspect to accepting the project.
"We believe in the leadership of Mayor Watts and all the investment that's making the infrastructure of this city. This will be a great place to locate your home or business and we back up that belief with our investment."
Hui also added that a sub-$200,000 entry price point would make the Park Place development the most affordable concrete construction condo high rise in the lower mainland and encourage further development in the area.
With access to world class amenities and public transport Park Place will be an ideal compliment to Concord Pacific's already sound reputation for creating world-class communities and provide a healthy investment injection for Surrey City Centre.
This building has the most poorly designed underground parking I have ever seen. My friend just moved in to this building and the workmanship and quality is not in line with Concord Pacific's rep, cheap closet doors, small and drafty windows and warped floors to name a few of the problems.
