NO no it is an independent country, before it was tied with politics(as is everything else in malta) socialists support the english, nationalists support italians. but the reason maltese celebrated the victory was partly due to ignorance, politics ,partly just the love of football and love of partying. oh and our football team is bad so we need to celebrate something

Italy, England and Malta all have great culture that is someway connected; if Maltese want to rout for Italy or England against other countries of the world, then why not?
I'm half English and half Italian, when Malta play against other countries its good to see them do well, like the great result against Turkey.
