This is probably my favorite song from the band Roper. I needed the song for something, so there's no video. Yes, the lead singer is Reese Roper, better known as the the lead singer of Five Iron Frenzy.

  • I hate how everything with Reese is this religion genre... if FIF or Roper wasnt christian rock groups theyd be 50x more popular and would be huge rockstars.

  • Hold on, are you saying you don't like religion or that you don't like how Reese isn't famous because of how networks like MTV view religious music as not being as worthy of air time?

Or are you saying something totally different?

  • If FIF or Roper just weren't religious groups I think they would have been at least 50x bigger than they were.

  • Yes, but I don't think FIF, Roper, and Brave Saint Saturn are/were in it for the money. They want to glorify God first and foremost. As for popular artists not being religious, what of Relient K, they've had pretty good mainstream success.

  • I love everything that FIF does but I couldn't help but crack up when I saw your user name.

  • Uh, okay, as long as you love FIF, IT'S ALL GOOD!

  • @NixonIn2008 If you are talking about NHL: NHL games and Television have been supporting and playing Christian music for years.. I think the last 6 years their "theme" song for the year (songs they use in highlight commercials, during commercial breaks, etc) have been by a variety christian bands. Also saying that because they have their song on a Sports game is not glorifying God would be undermining the idea that one of the main goals Christian bands strive for is sharing the word in any form

  • @turdinator5000 : I'm very new to the whole "Roper"/"Five Iron Frenzy" thing, but if they weren't in it for the money, and were trying to glorify God first and foremost, why would they have agreed to have one of their hits ("1985") widely distributed in a deal with an EA Sports video game?

  • I love how FIF and Roper and others like them, don't "mention God." The mainstream Christian Music on the radio, mostly have to mention God every other word...I counted one song by Chris Tomlin, and he said God 42 times. 19 if you don't count the various times he repeats the chorus, shows you how much he repeats the chorus. It is more annoying the rap songs having to cuss every other word. I strongly dislike those kind of songs, and with that said. ROPER AND FIF FOR EVER

  • Actually, Christian music almost is a genre as far as the crap they play on the Christian radio stations goes. Always the same beat, similar voices, almost identical lyrics. A lot of it is just cookie cutter music, and Reese breaks away from that really well. I'm really glad they (and a few other bands like skillet, TFK, and some Switchfoot) didn't sell out, otherwise, there would be no good Christian music.

  • 2 things: 1- I think that non-mainstream-Christian bands (like FIF, not Casting Crowns) have the idea that "The healthy do not need a doctor."

2- it's like Jon Foreman says, "Christian isn't a genre."

  • I just found out about roper, I have always loved FIF and bs2 so this is an amazing find for me! haha

  • @stephenstudios Even in their documentary, they mentioned how they KNEW they could have become famous and be on MTV and stuff. But they didn't want to sell out and lose their Christian roots.

  • What does it matter, as far as the quality of the music being played, if Roper is a Christian band? I mean lyrically, yes they're talking about God which is awesome. But if you don't like that can't you just focus on the music?

  • it's not the same though.... : (
