From a TV special in 1969, The Statler Brothers sing Shenandoah. Sadly lead singer Lew DeWitt died in 1990 of Crohn's Disease.
[lyrics]
Oh Shenandoah I long to see you away you rolling river
Oh Shenandoah I long to see you
Away I'm bound the way cross the wide Missouri
Oh Shenandoah I love your daughter away you rolling river
Oh Shenandoah I love your daughter
Away I'm bound the way cross the wide Missouri
[ guitar ]
For seven years I've been a rover away you rolling river
Seven years I've been a rover
Away I'm bound the way cross the wide Missouri
Away I'm bound the way cross the wide Missouri

I love this song and most of its arrangements. This is a great tempo for it. Anyone who thinks this is the best or the worst is a failure. It simply is.

This is the earliest footage I've ever seen of them, fantastic harmonies & they looked so different clean shaven. They're image changed thru the years except for the distinctive vocal harmonies so uniquely Statler Bros.

Poor Harold half his face is cut off for most of the clip and he looked really nervous. At the end of the song Harold looked very relieved that they pulled it off. hahaha so nice to see them at such an early stage of their career. Love these guys, their music was such a big part of my life.

Correct, looking left to right, it is Harold, Phil, Don, Lew. But, you know that already.

"Harold, Phil, Don or Lew" -- That's who they told women who resembled Dolly Parton or Barbara Mandrell to see backstage in "How to Be a Country Star," and that's how they lined up when they performed.

correct and now he's a mall walker. All are very nice guys except for Lew who has passed and was replaced by Jimmy Fortune who is still quite active in our community. In fact he recently performed his annual charity Christmas show for patients and families at our local hospital.
Left to right: Harold Reid, Phil Balsley, Don Reid and Lew Dewhitt.
