On Saturday, April 9th, the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) and the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) co-presented its third annual, "Envision: Addressing Global Issues Through Documentaries" forum.

The event, which was held at The TimesCenter in New York City, brought together key leaders from the international filmmaking and development communities as well as people from all sectors of society. This year's focus was on the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals and the need to focus on women in order to achieve these goals by the 2015 deadline.

Lynne Patterson, Co-Founder and Director for Pro Mujer, participated on a fascinating panel discussion titled, "The Role of Women in Alleviating Poverty & Hunger." Moderated by Donald Lee, Chief, Social Perspective on Development Branch, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the panel also included the participation of Rebeca Grynspan, Under-Secretary General, Associate Administrator, United Nations Development Programme; Kennedy Odede, Founder and CEO of Shining Hope for Communities; and Lina Srivastsava, Board member for Global Grassroots.
