hold the sleep button and the home button until it shuts off and then keep holding the buttons down for 2seconds and then stop holding the sleep button while still pushing the home button for ten more seconds

Turn it completely off, then turn it on while holding the home button!!!!! This will work!!!!!!

when i hold the home and rest button at the same time nothing happens, my i touch does not turn off. can anyone please assist... is just stays on a screen that says 'BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

your cable must be connected
your iTunes must be actived
and than pres off and middle button and hold 10 second :-)

your wrong i have the 32gb and it DOES work lol dont think your 8gb is da bomb lol

Dude Heres how to fiz it: hold the power and home button for like 10 secs than it will go black and it will start up or u may have to restore it
