  • I commented on this last year, and just to give you an update, our little hen turned out to be a rooster. Neelix is now over a year old, 7 lbs, and has another rooster living at home with us as well as a hen we rescued, 3 ducks, 18 birds, a dog and cat. I am adding an addition to my first video response so you can see how much he grew up since we had him. It's amazing all those roosters don't fight. Our 2 have to be kept apart 24 hours a day.

  • Thanks for the update, yes, I remember. So this is the same bird? He has turned RED, cool! Guess what, yes, I like red chickens. Funny clip with your dog and Neelix playing with the green toy, BTW!;-) Sounds as if you´ll never get bored in your house, uh?LOL!

  • Thanks Sidney! Yes, excercise is important to build strong muscles. No, not this many actually, we only have 20-30 males. No, they don´t make much noise, but they do indeed CROW rather often and very loud. Our Brahma´s crows can clearly be heard within half a mile radius. Additionally also our hens are rather vocal, but I don´t consider chicken-sounds as noise, I call it chicken-music instead!;-) Yes, chickens are sweet and can be rather funny, also. Only 5 birds? Then get more! Just kidding.

  • i dont see many hens y is this? nice though

  • Oh, this is the male-only-flock, we have around 10 cocks and 10 cockerels in there. The hens and pullets are in our main-flock. We have 1 cock with around 40 females running in the main-flock.

  • Wow they are beautiful. How do you keep so many roosters together and they don't fight?

  • Thanks. Well, not at all;-) They do fight ALOT, and although they get along in general they have rather "rude manners" in their flock.
