@flowerofsilver Well Patty Duke did really show her versatility here.

I'm not sure why remakes are so popular in the first place? Do people just not like old movies? I love the original one. This one's okay, but why bother with a redo when you have the original. And don't get me started on Johnny Depp as Tonto.......................

I thinkI would make a good helen keller in a movie if they made another version...I would so go and auddition!! lol

@1simaddict1 yes it is!

@jecka1982 She was born in 1964.So she was supposed to be 15 at that time but is as tall as Ann so it is diffcult to believe in the movie.Patty duke was a teen when she played Helen keller but she was short if you compare and she was shorter than Ann bancroft and her parents.Patty or Anna duke is short in real life and made younger than her age,so it was more realistic in my opinion.

@fisteberg how old is melissa in this? 13/14?
-
Haaahahaha! Isn't that the blind school in Walnut Grove on Little House on the Prairie?

Why is everything backwards? That was on the left in 1962 is now on the right and vise versa. Melissa is way too old to be playing a 7 year old. And nowhere as good as Patty in the roll. This remake is disappointing. 1962 is way better by far

Very nice editing! I love this movie.
seeing this makes me appreciate Patty Duke as Helen all the more--she wasn't afraid to get down and dirty in the role, and play the ungraceful, ill-mannered Helen who devoured cake and crawled like a monkey. For some reason Melissa Gilbert just doesn't seem to bring that home.

I'm sorry but the original is sooo much better than all the stupid remakes. I love Melissa Gilbert in Little House on the Prairie but she is just not believeable in this movie. Patty Duke is and always will be Helen Keller. And Anne Bancroft is and always will be Annie Sullivan.
