Really, that is sad to hear that.
I have just learned of GG last year because no one bothered to play them on my radio anywhere. I live on the East Coast. I really like them alot!

'Listened to this LP until my stylus wore out. Yes, a turntable', and I still have it.
Please can we have them back.

@duncanparsons Don't forget the tape slow-down on the intro to "Working all Day" and the runaway tape speed-up at the ending of "The Face" and the subway SFX on "Underground".
While it's kinda boring, I always loved the ending of "A Reunion" with it's somewhat dissonant 2-note keyboard part - denoting a troubled mind in conflict - slowly becoming a single droning note fading out to represent a resolution of sorts.

Hit random article on Wikipedia and this is what came up.

@wik1978 It was Pong :-)
@underagepickle Pong came out in 1972 (but it was 1973 when it took off), this song was in 1975. So it's a close call, but GG definitely sampled (as in taped) the effect, in the same way they used the shattering glass on IAGH, the coin spin on Octopus & the camera click on Civilian :-)

Makes me human again just listening to this after so many years. Man I miss those times. The days when music mattered and going to a great concert or getting the latest album of a great band really was worth looking forward to and expending the effort to get to the show on time.

I think you might like a obscure english 80's rock band (who were fans of GG, Yes, Genesis). Try
IT BITES -- PEOPLE OF AMERICA
here on Youtube. This 'vinyl' upload is terrific. Thanks... Johnnnny

Gentle Giant ! This is a typical song by one of the let say 5 best music artists/groups ever IMO. Such intelligent music and in the same time with a fantastic feeling, fantasy and equlibrism makes it unique. Top class instrumentalists as well. I have listened to the original LPs for decades now, I you cannot stop admiring Gentle Giant nor continue to aquire the taste...
