AFTRS documentary "Butterfly Man" won the Silver Cub Award for "Best Short Documentary under 30 minutes" at a recent International Documentary Film Association (IDFA) Awards in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
IDFA is one of the most prestigious documentary events in the world with both a film competition and market.
The Silver Cub Jury had the following comments to make about the documentary:
"Our winner is a film whose character shows a complete transformation in a matter of minutes. Beautifully filmed, it shows in many ways how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, how an ordinary man becomes a man of dancing dreams. What starts as a naturalistic documentary turns into a poetic ballet. It was the shortest of the ten short films we saw and it showed that a six minute film can be a true documentary."
