Since when does a cup have to have a handle? My understanding of what a cup is is that it's generally cylindrical in shape, with a wide opening at the top from which to drink. I'm surprised you didn't cite the dictionary as you've been known to. Your case would've been stronger.

@theonlyred4 My point is that if a receptacle is made of glass, we use the word "glass" to describe it. A glass does indeed fall into the category of "Things that may be defined as cups", but since a more precise word exists it seems remiss not to employ it.
