December 2nd was Young and Future Generations (YoFuGe) Day. At COP16, the youth received t-shirts that said "You have been negotiatiing my whole life. You cannot tell me that you need more time" which was said by Christina Ora, a youth delegate from the Solomon Islands at Cop15 last year. At the beginning of the day, the youth participated in an action where they stood in two lines along the walkway that Official Country Delegates had to walk between to get to their daily meetings. Many read our shirts. Second, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) put on an action with all the other youth to raise awareness about climate change, which was done in the form of singing and dancing. It was a great energy booster. Thirdly, the youth pretended to sell their futures at a "carbon market". They sold things like time, forests, oxygen, etc. It was very clever and had a great turn-out! To end the day, WAGGGS put on two side-events about Article 6. Both were very informative and well-put together. :-)
