Originally this song told the old lover-leaves-tears, regrets and destruction-behind-them-story
and was sung by Neil Tennant and Dusty Springfield a very queer couple indeed. But I thought the song could be given another interpretation
if the lovers instead of being a man and a wo/man were a human and the one he/ she left behind the earth.
I think that all of us gathered here today love the earth but still sometimes we forget her
