Frank Cooper drives his de Winton inspired vertical boiler loco on the National Railway Museum's 7¼" gauge railway. Coal-fired, and chain drive to all four wheels. 6 coaches and around 31 passengers.

  • I ought to confess that I deliberately cut the video short at the point where the rear coach was in shot, but missed out the Deltic loco on the rear, providing essential rear end banking! Still, it's a good illusion!

  • The joy of geared steam. Sounds like 2:1 or 3:1 gearing, giving loads of power as long as the loco has the weight to use it, this one evidently has!
