The Norwegian Dream cruise ship offloads trash on a small Belizean barge just off Belize City, bound for the Belize City landfill (which is really just an unregulated trash heap in the mangroves). I'm pretty sure this is illegal, as Belize has laws against taking any foreign garbage. They dumped quite a bit of trash into the barge, including big bales of compressed garbage.
Cruise ships are wonderful. Given I'm not a fan of NCL (It's not even a Norwegian Company, it's owned by Asians) but there's nothing at all wrong with what's going on here.

njorn is true to SOME extent. every cruise ship has to pay to drop off their trash when they arrive to a port or island and it is expensive but dont you think they know that? do you really think they want to pay so much for their trash? no they dont so they throw most of it into their oceans so how is that helping out those people? their waters have so much trash thanks to these big cruise ships

Bjoron, What are you basing that on, besides your ignorance? You are NORWEGIAN after all...so you defend the norwegian cruise line. have you ever BEEN to Belize? did you see the recycling with your own eyes? or do you just believe the official propaganda?
Cruise ships ARE ecological terrorists, that's a FACT!

Belize actually have an advanced recycling plant, and the major cruise companys such as NCL, RCCL and Carnival pays a lot of money to offload garbage there.
This way they help the community and the city with income, and also generate jobs for the poor people of Belize.
