You slaughtered a people who had a vastly lower technology level, not exactly something to be proud of. Yes Spain was powerful back in the day, but what exactly have you done lately? I will agree in the past Spain was strong, but the fact is you can be a great swordsman, but when it comes down to it, the American military still is the strongest in the world, we aren't as dominant as we use to be, but no one ever stays on top.
