volkswagen won the dakar rally. in 2.5l turbo diesel touraeg race rig. against 3.5l gas v6 pajero race rig.won on mileage, and on speed. when mitsubishi went diesel, they lost again.
NHRDA has a record right now.. diesel pro stock truck.. cummins, 9.48 seconds 148 mph.. 3 ton truck.

lemans 24 hours. audi made a diesel turbo car.. the audi r10 tdi. 650 hp 810 ft lbs torque. racing other gas powered turbo cars.. v12 v10 whatnot. it won the 24 hours of lemans 3 times. on the trot. only against the peugot v21 crd did it lose.. v12 twin turbo tdi car. no one could catch it. diesel is not just for pulling any more. ask gale banks. he won baja over and oevr with a f250 diesel turbo truck. open class and stock class.

lol this was a race not a pulling contest diesel wouldnt be worth a crap for this contest , look at all the fastest mega trucks in the country and you wont see none of them running a diesel they are just not for racing unless you race other diesels
