You CAN beat Brock the first time but he won't give you the badge, you have to beat him the second time like in the show. So far I like the game but I wish they encorperated more of the origional games Rocket substory into it instead of it always being Jessy and James

u can beat brock with pikachu just have to power it up at the powere facility in the bottom right of the town and thats what ash does in the show so its cooler
